Recruitment is done for three major positions:

  1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

  2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

  3. Dak Sevak


    Recruitment Frequency

    India Post announces GDS recruitment 2–3 times per year depending on vacancies in different postal circles.

    Selection Process

    No Written Exam — Selection is based on marks obtained in 10th standard (merit-based).


    Work Location

    • Rural Branch Post Offices in the respective postal circle/state applied for.

    • Posting is usually near the applicant’s home district or local area.



      Additional Opportunities

      • Eligible GDS employees can apply for other Central Government exams (SSC, RRB, etc.) while in service.

      • Experience in GDS service is valued for internal and departmental promotions.
