The ALP selection process includes the following stages:

2. Detailed Exam Pattern

a. First Stage CBT

  • Purpose: Qualifying exam for the second stage.
  • Duration: 60 minutes

  • General Awareness and Current Affairs

Marking Scheme:

  • 1 mark per correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Weightage: Shortlisting for the second stage is based on normalized marks.

b. Second Stage CBT

Part A

  • Purpose: Evaluates knowledge in core subjects.
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Number of Questions: 100

  • General Awareness and Current Affairs

Marking Scheme:

  • 1 mark per correct answer.

Part B

  • Purpose: Tests technical knowledge relevant to the trade.
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Number of Questions: 75
  • Subject: Relevant Trade Knowledge (Based on ITI/Diploma syllabus).
  • Qualifying Criteria: Minimum 35% marks required (no relaxation for reserved categories).

c. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • Purpose: Applicable only for ALP candidates; assesses decision-making and aptitude.

Structure: Multiple test batteries, including:

  • Memory Test
  • Concentration Test
  • Perceptual Speed Test
  • Reaction Time Test
  • Spatial Scanning Test
  • Qualifying Criteria: Minimum 42 marks in each test battery (no relaxation).

Note: CBAT scores are considered only for ALP candidates and are combined with Second Stage CBT Part A for final merit.

3. Document Verification and Medical Examination

Candidates who clear the above stages are called for:

  • Document Verification: Verify identity, education, caste, and other certificates.
  • Medical Fitness Test: Ensure candidates meet physical and medical standards.

4. Weightage of Stages for Final Merit

For ALP posts:

  • Second Stage CBT Part A: 70% weightage
  • CBAT: 30% weightage

For Technician posts:

  • Only Second Stage CBT Part A marks are considered for final merit.
