The SSC JHT (Junior Hindi Translator) exam eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, and educational qualifications. Here's a detailed breakdown:

1. Nationality

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam) intending to settle permanently in India.

Note: Candidates other than Indian citizens must provide a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

2. Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years (as of the specified cut-off date in the notification)

3. Educational Qualification

  • For Junior Hindi Translator / Junior Translator
  • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or vice-versa.

OR

  • Master’s Degree in any subject with Hindi or English as the medium of examination at the degree level, and English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject at the degree level.

AND

  • Diploma or Certificate in Translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa, or two years’ experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in a government office.

For Senior Hindi Translator

  • Same qualifications as above.
  • Three years of experience in translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in a government office preferred.

Important Notes

  • Candidates must produce original certificates during the document verification process.
  • Those in their final year of qualifying degree are not eligible to apply unless the degree is completed before the cut-off date mentioned in the notification.
