SBI PO

The SBI PO Exam (State Bank of India Probationary Officer Exam) is conducted in three phases: Preliminary, Mains, and Interview. Below is the detailed exam pattern for each phase:

1. SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern

The Prelims is the first stage and consists of an online test with the following sections:

  • Total Questions : 100
  • Duration : 1 hour
  • Marking Scheme : Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking is applicable for wrong answers (0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer).


2. SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern

The Mains exam is more comprehensive and consists of both objective and descriptive sections.

  • Total Questions: 155
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Marking Scheme: Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the Objective section.

Objective Section (Total 200 Marks)


Descriptive Section (Total 50 Marks)

Writing Skills: Candidates need to write an essay and a letter.

Duration: 30 minutes

3. SBI PO Interview

  • Total Marks: 50
  • Candidates who qualify in the Mains exam are shortlisted for the interview based on their Mains exam score.
  • The final selection is based on the combined marks of the Mains exam and the Interview.

Final Selection

  • The final merit list is prepared based on the following:
  • Prelims Exam: Qualifying in nature.
  • Mains Exam: Marks obtained in the Mains exam and Interview are combined for the final result.

Note: The weightage of the Mains exam and Interview is as follows:

  • Mains Exam: 75%
  • Interview: 25%
