1. Cadre Eligibility

• The examination is limited to Group ‘C’ employees of the Department of Posts (DoP) or Department of Telecommunications (DoT) who are eligible for promotion.

• Typical eligible posts include:

  • Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS)

  • Postman / Mail Guard

  • Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant (PA/SA)

• Candidates should be in regular service in their current post as per departmental requirements.

2. Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is required.

• Some departmental notifications may allow candidates with equivalent qualifications recognized by the government.

3. Service Requirement

• Minimum years of service in the current grade (as of the crucial date in the notification):

  • MTS: 14 years

  • Postman / Mail Guard: 11 years

  • Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant (PA/SA): 9 years

• The exact service requirement is specified in the official notification for each examination cycle.

4. Age Limit

• Age is generally calculated as of 1st January of the examination year (or as specified in the notification).

• Relaxation in age applies for reserved categories as per government rules.

5. Other Conditions

• Eligibility Verification: Candidates’ service records must be verified and countersigned by the appropriate authorities.

• Divisional Office Approval: Applications are submitted through the respective Divisional Offices, which verify eligibility before forwarding the application.
