1. For Departmental Candidates (LDCE – Limited Departmental Competitive Examination)

The LDCE for Inspector of Posts (IPO) is conducted internally by the Department of Posts (DoP) for existing employees such as Postal Assistants (PA), Sorting Assistants (SA), and Lower Selection Grade (LSG) officials.


Step-by-Step Application Process:

Step 1: Visit the Official India Post Website

Step 2: Check the Latest Notification

  • Navigate to:
    Employee Corner → Departmental Exam Notifications
    OR
    Notifications / Circulars / Recruitment Section

  • Look for the title like:
    Notification for LDCE for promotion to the cadre of Inspector of Posts, 2025

Step 3: Download and Read the Notification

  • The circular will include:

    • Eligibility criteria

    • Exam pattern and syllabus

    • Application form format

    • Important dates and submission process

Step 4: Fill the Application Form

  • Fill in all required details:

    • Name, Employee ID, Circle, Office Address

    • Designation and years of service

    • Educational qualification and personal details

Step 5: Attach Required Documents

  • Attach self-attested copies of:

    • Service Book extracts

    • Educational qualification certificates

    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the controlling officer

    • Any other documents as mentioned

Step 6: Submit Through Proper Channel

  • Submit your completed application form to your Divisional Office / Head of Division.

  • Your application will be verified and forwarded to the Circle Office or Directorate before the deadline.

Step 7: Admit Card and Exam Details

  • Once accepted, candidates will receive Admit Cards / Hall Tickets through their official email or circle portal.

  • Keep checking the circle website for exam date, venue, and instructions.


2. For Direct Entry Candidates (Through SSC CGL Exam)

External candidates (graduates) are recruited as Inspector of Posts through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination.


Step-by-Step Application Process (SSC CGL Route):

Step 1: Visit the SSC Official Website

Step 2: Register on the SSC Portal

  • If you’re a new user, click “Register Now” under the Login section.

  • Provide details such as:

    • Name, Date of Birth, and Email ID

    • Aadhaar or ID proof details

    • Educational qualifications and category (UR/OBC/SC/ST)

Step 3: Login and Apply for the SSC CGL Exam

  • After registration, log in with your User ID and Password.

  • Click on “Apply” → “CGL Examination”.

Step 4: Fill the Application Form

  • Fill details like:

    • Preferred post (Select Inspector of Posts, Ministry of Communications)

    • Educational details

    • Exam centre preference

Step 5: Upload Documents

  • Upload scanned copies of:

    • Photograph (JPEG, 20–50 KB)

    • Signature (JPEG, 10–20 KB)

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee

  • Pay online through debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking.

    • Fee: ₹100 (General/OBC)

    • Exempted: SC/ST, PwD, and Female candidates

Step 7: Download Application Receipt

  • After successful submission, download and print your Application Form and Fee Receipt for reference.
