1. Nationality / Citizenship

Candidates must be one of the following:

• A citizen of India

• A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

• Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India

• Persons of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East Africa, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India

2. Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 years

• Maximum Age: Usually 27 years for General category candidates

• Age Relaxation: As per Government of India rules:

  • SC/ST: +5 years

  • OBC: +3 years

  • PwBD: +10 years (general), +13 years (OBC), +15 years (SC/ST)

  • Ex-Servicemen: As applicable

• Age is calculated on the closing date of application

3. Educational Qualification

• Minimum Qualification: 10+2 pass (Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary) from a recognized board

• Some postal circles may specify local language knowledge for PA posts

4. Other Requirements

• Typing / Data Entry Skills: Required in most circles

  • English typing: Minimum 35–40 WPM

  • Hindi typing: As per notification (if applicable)

• Medical Fitness: Must be physically and medically fit for clerical duties

• Documents Required:

  • Educational certificates

  • Age proof

  • Caste/category certificate (if applicable)

  • Typing or skill test certificate (if previously acquired)
