1. First Stage CBT Syllabus

a. General Awareness (15 Questions)

  • Railways and its function: History of Railways, Railway Zones, Important Railway Stations.
  • Indian Economy: Basics of the Indian economy, national income, government policies, etc.
  • Indian Geography: Physical features, climate, rivers, mountains, and more.
  • Indian History: Freedom Struggle, Important Events, Major Indian Leaders.
  • Indian Polity: Constitution, important political events, current government policies, etc.
  • General Science: Basics of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Environmental Issues: Ecology, pollution, natural resources, etc.
  • Sports and Culture: Famous sports personalities, cultural heritage, etc.

b. Mathematics (30 Questions)

  • Number System: Integers, fractions, decimals, etc.
  • Algebra: Linear equations, quadratic equations, etc.
  • Geometry: Angles, circles, polygons, areas, volumes.
  • Mensuration: Surface area and volume of solids.
  • Time and Work: Work problems, time efficiency.
  • Time and Distance: Speed, distance, and relative speed.
  • Profit and Loss: Percentage calculations, simple and compound interest.

c. General Intelligence and Reasoning (25 Questions)

d. General Science (30 Questions)

  • Physics: Motion, energy, force, laws of motion, electricity, magnetism, light, etc.

  • Biology: Human body, plant physiology, environmental science, ecology.
  • Earth Sciences: Rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes, atmosphere, etc.

2. Second Stage CBT Syllabus

The second stage is more focused on technical knowledge related to the engineering discipline that the candidate has chosen. The second stage consists of:

a. General Awareness (15 Questions)

Similar to the First Stage CBT, this section includes questions on:

  • Current affairs, general knowledge, culture, environment, etc.

b. Physics and Chemistry (15 Questions)

  • Basic concepts of Physics (mechanics, properties of matter, etc.)
  • Chemistry (atomic structure, acids, and bases, chemical equations, etc.)

c. Basics of Computers and Applications (10 Questions)

  • Computer fundamentals: Hardware, software, operating systems, etc.
  • Networking basics: Internet, protocols, networking devices.
  • Applications: MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

d. Basics of Environment and Pollution Control (10 Questions)

  • Environment: Ecology, ecosystem, biodiversity, etc.
  • Pollution: Types of pollution (air, water, soil), prevention, etc.

e. Technical Knowledge (100 Questions)

This section will be specific to the engineering stream that the candidate has applied for. The subjects covered depend on the branch (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, etc.). Below is the breakdown for the general engineering disciplines:
