The SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern consists of two stages:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Mode: Online
Type of Questions: Objective Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes)
Total Questions: 200
Total Marks: 200
Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer
Section-wise Distribution
Topics Covered in Each Section:
General Intelligence & Reasoning: Analogies, Problem-Solving, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Number Series, Visual Memory, and Reasoning Puzzles.
General Awareness: Current Affairs, History, Geography, Indian Polity, Economy, Scientific Research, and Static General Knowledge.
English Language & Comprehension: Vocabulary, Grammar, Synonyms, Antonyms, Sentence Structure, Spotting Errors, Fill in the Blanks, and Reading Comprehension.
2. Skill Test in Stenography
Mode: Offline
Purpose: Qualifying in nature to test stenography speed and transcription ability.
Details of Skill Test:
Candidates must transcribe the dictated passage accurately within the given time.
Errors are considered while evaluating performance.
Final Selection Process:
Step 1: Candidates need to qualify the CBT.
Step 2: Candidates who qualify CBT are called for the Skill Test.
Step 3: The final merit list is prepared based on performance in CBT, subject to qualifying the skill test.
Important Notes:
Skill Test is qualifying in nature—only those who meet the required speed are considered for merit.
Candidates should regularly practice stenography to meet the required speed.
