ADO (Agent Category)

1. Nationality

  • Must be an Indian citizen.


2. Educational Qualifications

  • Required: A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian university (established under statute or approved), or a Fellowship from the Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai.

  • Preference: Candidates with an MBA (Marketing) or a PG Diploma in Marketing (AICTE-approved) may receive preference.


3. Age Limit (as on the cut-off date, typically January 1 of the exam year)

  • General Category: 21 to 30 years

  • Relaxed Upper Limits:

    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 33 years

    • SC/ST: 35 years

    • LIC Agent (General): 40 years

    • LIC Agent (OBC, Non-Creamy Layer): 43 years

    • LIC Agent (SC/ST): 45 years

    • Ex-servicemen: 30 years plus years of service (up to 45 for OBC, up to 47 for SC/ST, or up to 42 for others)


4. Required Work Experience

  • Agent Category:

    • Urban Areas: At least 5 years as an LIC Agent or DSE/FSE, plus achieved a net first-year premium income of at least ₹5 Lakh over the immediately preceding 5 financial years, and at least ₹1 Lakh on 50 lives per year in any 3 of those years.

    • Rural Areas: At least 4 years as an LIC Agent or DSE/FSE, plus achieved a net first-year premium income of at least ₹1 Lakh on 50 lives per year in any 3 of the immediately preceding 4 financial years.
