1. Nationality

A candidate must be:

  • A citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement.

Note: Candidates other than Indian citizens must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Indian government.

2. Age Limit (As on a specific cutoff date mentioned in the notification)


Age Relaxation (As per government norms):

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (NCL): 3 years
  • PWD: 10 years (additional relaxation for SC/ST and OBC)
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service.

3. Educational Qualification (As on the specified date in the notification)

  • Candidates must possess a Diploma or Degree in Engineering in the relevant discipline from a recognized university or institution.

Discipline-Wise Eligibility:

  • Civil Engineering: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering: Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

4. Physical Standards (For Specific Departments)

Border Roads Organization (BRO):

  • Requires medical fitness and physical standards such as height, chest measurements, and vision tests.

5. Work Experience (If Required)

  • Some departments like MES may require work experience in the relevant engineering field, as specified in the notification.
