The SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) Exam is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to recruit candidates for Group ‘C’ non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices across India.

1. Job Profile: SSC MTS Posts

General Responsibilities:

  • Physical maintenance of records.
  • Carrying files and documents.
  • Delivering letters and messages.
  • Cleaning and upkeep of offices.
  • Assisting in routine office tasks (photocopying, faxing).
  • Watch and ward duties.
  • Opening and closing of offices.
  • Other support services.

2. Selection Process

The exam is conducted in two stages:

a. Paper 1 (CBT - Computer-Based Test):

  • Objective-Type Questions.
  • Includes Numerical Ability, Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language.

b. Physical Test (PET/PST) (only for Havaldar Posts):

  • Physical Efficiency Test (Walking/Running).
  • Physical Standard Test (Height/Chest measurements).

c. Document Verification (DV):

  • Shortlisted candidates must present original certificates and documents for verification.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Male:

  • Walking: 1600 meters in 15 minutes.
  • Cycling (if applicable): 8 km in 30 minutes.

Female:

  • Walking: 1 km in 20 minutes.
  • Cycling (if applicable): 3 km in 25 minutes.

Physical Standards Test (PST):

  • Height (Male): 157.5 cm; Female: 152 cm.
  • Chest (Male): 76 cm with expansion.
  • Weight (Female): Minimum 48 kg.

3. Salary Structure

  • Pay Scale: ₹18,000–₹22,000 (Level 1 Pay Matrix)
  • Grade Pay: ₹1,800
  • Gross Salary: ₹23,000–₹27,000 (depending on the location).

  • Dearness Allowance (DA).
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA).
  • Transport Allowance (TA).
