1. Cadre Eligibility

  • Postal Assistants (PAs) and Sorting Assistants (SAs) are eligible to appear for the examination.

  • SBCO Officials: Postal Assistants working in the Savings Bank Control Organisation (SBCO) are eligible to appear for the examination. However, it's important to note that SBCO officials have a separate cadre, and promotions within SBCO may follow different rules and procedures. Therefore, SBCO officials should consult their respective Divisional Offices to confirm eligibility and understand the specific requirements. 

2. Service Eligibility

  • Minimum Service Requirement: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of regular service as a Postal Assistant or Sorting Assistant as of the eligibility cutoff date specified in the examination notification. This duration is typically considered from the date of joining the PA/SA cadre. 

  • Crucial Date for Eligibility: The eligibility is determined based on the cutoff date specified in the examination notification. Candidates should refer to the specific notification for the exact date. 

3. Age Limit

  • General Category: Candidates should be within the age limit specified in the examination notification. Age relaxations may apply for candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms. 

4. Educational Qualification

  • Minimum Qualification: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 (Higher Secondary) or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

  • Desirable Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university is often preferred but not mandatory for eligibility. However, possessing a degree may be beneficial for career advancement and promotions. 

5. Other Conditions

  • Cadre Separation: SBCO has a separate cadre from the PO and RMS, implying different eligibility criteria for promotions and appointments. Therefore, SBCO officials should consult their respective Divisional Offices to confirm eligibility and understand the specific requirements. 

  • Application Process: Candidates should submit their applications through the respective Divisional Offices as per the guidelines provided in the examination notification.
