The eligibility criteria for the MBA PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) exam are outlined below. These criteria ensure that candidates meet the minimum qualifications required for admission into MBA programs offered by participating colleges.

1. Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree:

  • Candidates must have completed a 3-year or 4-year Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in any discipline.
  • The degree should be awarded by a university recognized by the UGC or AICTE.

Minimum Aggregate Marks:

  • General category candidates must have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying degree.
  • Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/Category-I of Karnataka) are eligible with 45% aggregate marks.

Final-Year Students:

  • Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree can apply, provided they submit the required documents at the time of admission.

2. Domicile Criteria

Karnataka Residents:

  • Candidates must meet the domicile requirements of Karnataka, as specified by the conducting authority.
  • Typically, applicants or their parents should have studied in Karnataka for at least 7 years.

Non-Karnataka Candidates:

  • Non-Karnataka candidates are eligible but may only apply for management quota seats. They are not eligible for government seat allocation.

3. Age Limit

There is no age limit to apply for the MBA PGCET exam.

4. Work Experience (Optional)

For candidates applying to certain MBA specializations (e.g., Executive MBA), some colleges may require prior work experience. However, this is program-specific and not a mandatory criterion for the general MBA PGCET.

Additional Points

  • Reservation: Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC/Category-I) must produce valid caste and income certificates to avail of relaxation in eligibility criteria.
  • NRI/Foreign Nationals: Eligibility for NRI or foreign candidates is subject to specific guidelines issued by the conducting authority.
