The SSC GD (General Duty) Constable Exam pattern is divided into four stages:

Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

  • Mode: Online
  • Type: Objective (Multiple-Choice Questions)
  • Total Marks: 160
  • Duration: 60 minutes (1 hour)
  • Negative Marking: 0.50 marks deducted for each wrong answer.

Exam Structure


Key Focus Areas:

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning: Logical reasoning and analytical skills.
  • General Knowledge: Current affairs and general awareness.
  • Mathematics: Basic arithmetic and problem-solving.
  • Language: Comprehension and grammar in English/Hindi.

Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who clear the CBT will qualify for the PET to test their physical stamina.

Stage 4: Medical Examination

Vision Standard:

  • Better Eye: 6/6
  • Worse Eye: 6/9 (Without glasses).
  • Must be free from deformities or any serious medical condition.
  • No Tattoos are allowed except for specific religious or cultural symbols (not offensive).

Final Selection

  • Merit List is prepared based on performance in CBT.
  • Candidates must qualify in PET, PST, and Medical Tests to be eligible for final selection.
  • Document verification is the last step before appointment.

  • Exam Language: CBT is conducted in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates must clear each stage to proceed to the next.
  • The PET/PST is qualifying in nature—marks from these tests are not counted in the final merit list.
