Purpose

To recruit candidates for non-technical positions in the Indian Railways, including:

Selection Process

The exam consists of multiple stages:

Stage 1 CBT (Computer-Based Test):

  • Common for all posts.
  • Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness.
  • Total Questions: 100.
  • Time: 90 minutes.
  • Negative marking: 1/3 for each wrong answer.

Stage 2 CBT:

  • Post-specific.
  • Subjects and pattern similar to Stage 1 but with more detailed topics.
  • Total Questions: 120.
  • Time: 90 minutes.
  • Negative marking: 1/3 for each wrong answer.

Typing Skill Test (TST)/Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):

  • For posts like Junior Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, and Station Master.

Document Verification:

  • For shortlisted candidates after Stage 2 CBT and skill/aptitude tests.

Medical Examination:

  • Candidates must meet the medical fitness standards for their chosen post.

Salary Structure



Allowances

RRB NTPC employees are entitled to various allowances, which significantly increase their gross and in-hand salaries:

  • Dearness Allowance (DA) – Revised semi-annually, around 38% of the basic pay.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) – Depends on the posting location:

1. X (Metro Cities): 24% of basic pay.

2. Y (Tier-2 Cities): 16% of basic pay.

3. Z (Other Locations): 8% of basic pay.

  • Transport Allowance (TA) – Based on the location of posting.
  • Night Duty Allowance (if applicable).

In-Hand Salary
